Next time Liam Harvey gets a cut at footy, look at it. You'll notice his blood is Red & Black. Not surprising really, he's given his blood, sweat and tears to the 'Hillers since he was a little kid. Liam had played his first 100 games in the Redbacks jumper by 2010 in the Under 13's, and we're stoked that he's not only suiting up again for next season, but his small business S&L Carpentry is also a minor sponsor of the club, and he's generally the first to put his hand up to help with anything.

History was made tonight when Panton Hill Netball Club Goal Defender Caitlin Ryan became the first ever Redbacks payer to win an NFNL Best & Fairest. This is a massive achievement for Caitlyn who only joined the team this year for the clubs inaugural season in the NFNL football & netball aligned competition. Coach Jenni Huggins said "Caitlyn has had an outstanding season taking her netball to the next level. I'm extremely proud of her achievements". The team was also on track to sneak into finals before the season was cancelled with two games to go.

Semi-new recruit Riley Cousins has signed with the Redbacks for 2022. After starting the season in 7 matches for his hometown team Kilcunda Bass in the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition, Riley moved to Melbourne and played our last 4 games, showing a lot, in fact top 3 best players twice. We're dead-set rapt Riley has decided to stay on for next season. Thanks to the Panthers for the loan! DM us to be his $220 player sponsor, but be quick!

Liam Eldridge first played for the 'Hill in our 2014 Under 19's, but had to leave to continue Under 19's elsewhere because we had none. True to his word, he returned to the Redbacks as soon as he was open aged in 2016 and has never looked back. Liam hopes to raise his game to another level in 2022, and we're stoked that he's locked away next season with the Redbacks.

It's Daniel Pratt's birthday today, and he's also confirmed he's a starter for an incredible 20th season with the 'Hillers. Pratty came to the Redbacks straight out of Monty's Under 19's in 2002 and immediately endeared himself to everyone. If you've only met Daniel in the last few years, he was a regular Seniors player for many many seasons, a tackling, hard running big man who never gave up. His honours include "NFNL Division 3 Ruckman of the Year 2009", several club awards, and Life Membership of the Redbacks, but most of all, Pratty's just a great bloke who gives his all on the field each week. Daniel sends a special thanks to his Player Sponsor Home Beauty by Mia

After playing in our 2013 Under 13's Cooper Thompson had to become a journeyman to keep playing footy, and after junior stints with Hurstbridge and Diamond Creek, he found his way home in 2018 in our Under 19's team, and after enjoying his footy this year, we're rapt that Cooper has locked away 2022 with the Redbacks.
Sadly, mental health is still difficult for some to discuss, especially men, and especially in a footy club environment, although at the 'Hill we are always open to speak with any of our footy family who may be struggling. Our caring sponsor Tobin Brothers has a wonderful initiative throughout September. Please have read, and a listen.

Today, September 7th, 2021 is the 2nd anniversary of our “2019 Seniors Premiership” which to many feels like yesterday. It’s also the 8th anniversary of our 2013 flag and a great time to reminisce on the breaking of a 58 year drought:

Panton Hill 13.9-87 defeated Watsonia 13.8-86
Goals: Abe Williams 3, Brendan O'Connor 3, Ben Finnin 2, Jarrod McGough 2, Tristian Kreymborg , Tim. Duckworth , Zac Williams
Best: Abe Williams, Tyler Scarce, Joffa Byron, Tristian Kreymborg, Jarrod McGough, Lloyd Toffolon

Panton Hill broke a 58-year premiership drought by the narrowest of margins against a tenacious Watsonia outfit at Epping Recreation Reserve. Our team included current Coach Simon Amore, and Co Captain Tim Duckworth, as well as Zac Williams who owns “Foster Hydronic Heating” one of our Major Sponsors. Sadly current ‘Hiller Nathan Hendry suffered a devastating injury in the Prelim and missed the big dance, making up for it in 2019. A young Jackson Mill was Waterboy.

Having won 11 matches on the trot the Redbacks were warm favourites and the Grand Final was going according to script in the first term, and although playing very wide when entering the forward 50m, we seemed to be controlling the game.

Abe Williams, winner of the best on ground medal, kicked two of his three goals early on to help the Redbacks get our noses in front.
On three occasions during the game, the Redbacks pushed out to more than a two-goal lead, only to have the Saints hit back to regain front spot. However midway through the final term we were 19 points up, and appeared to be cruising to victory but Watsonia responded by booting four goals in quick succession giving them the lead again, but more twists and turns awaited as the arm wrestle continued.

Redback Brendan O’Connor passed to Jarrod McGough 35m out on a tight angle. McGough’s shot never looked like missing and the lead changed yet again.
At the next centre bounce, Tyler Scarce found Ben Finnin inside 50m. Finnin’s shot fell short but Zac Williams took a hanger and put us seven points up.
With just 90 seconds left on the clock the relentless Saints surged forward again and goaled from a tight angle reducing the margin further, but the siren sounded immediately and the ‘Hillers were home by a single point.
Fittingly, Alan Lacey, back pocket in Panton Hill’s 1955 premiership team, presented the cup to Coach Dean Haydock and Captain Will Box.

Sadly, in a reversal of the Senior game, the Saints held on to win the Reserves flag by eight points against the Redbacks earlier in the day.
Watsonia 8.8-56 defeated Panton Hill 7.6-48
Goals: Lachie Pearson 4, Nathan Grimshaw , Anthony Kidd , Nick Prenc
Best: Lachie Pearson, Dave Varano, Nathan Grimshaw, Simon Gunn, Nick Prenc, Daniel Pratt
If you use tank water, make sure your water supply is top notch and crystal clear. Water tanks need regular maintenance and cleaning too, and occasionally they need a top up. Evaporation is a big problem, especially in the sunny months. There's no question about who to turn to for all your tank needs, it's St. Andrews Water Cartage & Tank Cleaning, a sponsor of the club for many years, and proud Redbacks.
Another Senior and 2019 Premiership player John Pritchard is the next big name to lock in the 2022 season with the Redbacks. JP will play his 50th game for Panton Hill next year. John would like to thank Perspective Pools & Landscapes for their continued support as his player sponsor over the past few years.
Thanks to St. Andrews Water Cartage & Tank Cleaning
Here's your chance to be on the ground floor of something very special, and be part of the brand new Under 19's Program at the Redbacks, the most progressive club in the NFNL. If you're coming out of Under 17's, consider bringing all your teammates along for an exciting ride, you'll still still be together instead of going your separate ways. Mates for life. If the NFNL continues it's previous guidelines if you are still aged 19½ or less on January 1, 2022 you'll still be eligible for Under 19s. Phone our Senior Coach and have a chat!
Just a short note to wish all the Redbacks Dad's a great day. It may be hard to see each other at the moment, but hopefully all the Dad's involved in our club know how much their kids, and our club appreciate them.

Last week former Redback Dylan Rowe won the "Wide Bay Football League" Best & Fairest. Yesterday Hervey Bay Bombers FC won the Premiership 9.10.64 to Bay Power AFC 2.2.14. There was a real Redbacks connection too with Dylan cheered on by 'Hillers Life Member Warwick Sanderson and his wife, our former long-time trainer Jenny pictured here, who moved there in 2012. Also, 5 time Panton Hill Best & Fairest Mick Townsend's little cousin Zayda played in the Under 12's Hervey Bay flag in the morning. Congrats to the Bombers, wearing our old Panton Hill strip! *NOTE: The Sanderson's' still love our club and donated $250 towards our new Honour Board. We're just over $500 away from our target now.

2021 was Benjamin Warren's first ever year of footy, and not only did he play every round, he played in the Seniors against St. Mary's in April. Ben's learning curve has been enormous and we look forward to his progression in 2022, and we hope many more first grade games.

Jesse Owens-Draper started playing NFNL Seniors in 2011 aged just 17, and since then has racked up 120 games as well as many more Under 19 and Reserves matches. We were thrilled to sign Jesse at the start of this year, and the wait was certainly worth it. The club is excited that J.O.D. has signed on for 2022 after being named in our best players in over half of his 10 games this year. Jesse would like to thank Ferrari building & maintenance for being his Player Sponsor this year.
After just 11 games at the 'Hill, Alex D'Amico's season was cut short by a nasty plantar fascia foot injury. Now on the mend "Amigo" is keen to get running when pre-season begins in November and is another of our players to already commit to 2022. Super popular both on and off the field Alex is an important cog in key position roles moving forward. "Amigo" would like to thank his 2022 Player Sponsor Taco Bill Mexican for their support this year.

Sadly nearly all our functions have been cancelled over the past two seasons, but according to this genuine report from the local paper exactly 88 years ago, the footy club dance was a roaring success, and made a massive profit. The 1933 Social Committee have given our current boys a run for their money, and we may well have a card game and cake baking contest introduced at our Best & Fairest Night this year to boost attendance.
Thanks to JUST 12 generous members, our own player JOHN PRITCHARD, sponsors including Northern Motor Group and some incredible Life Members and Past Players we've already raised half of our Honour Board target. Think of all the money you've saved this year on functions, raffle tickets, drinks and food at the games, and petrol getting there. The Honour Board will celebrate our Past, Present and Future, so please pledge a few dollars. You can insert any amount you want into the donation box on the page, it doesn't have to be the pre-selects. $10, $20, $500... whatever you like. The family Club can knock this off easily. Don't do it later, do it now.

Ruckman and 2018 Best & Fairest winner Nick Parks has signed on for his 3rd season as a Redback (2020 excluded), and heads into the new year on the fringe of his 50th game. "Junior" is on 48 at the moment and constantly learning and improving his art of ruckwork each week. Nick won the B&F in his first year of Senior footy and is tracking to become one of the best tap-men in the league, he says "making our mids look better than they actually are!" Western Bulldogs AFLW star Deanna Berry spoke to AFL Women's about her role as senior assistant of Panton Hill Football Club's senior men's team in 2021.

Massive congratulations to former Redback Dylan Rowe who relocated to Hervey Bay in North Queensland earlier this year, and transferred to the Hervey Bay Bombers FC. Last night Dylan won "Wide Bay Football League" Division 1 Senior Best & Fairest by one vote, and this Saturday will line up in the Grand Final against Bay Power AFC. Dylan has averaged 2 goals per game off the Half Back Flank. His brother, current Redbacks player Aidan, and his mum Sponsor Nicole Rowe are justifiably very proud. Good luck Dylan, bring it home for the Black & Red sash (Panton Hill's old jumper design).
As the club approaches it's Centenary, we are preparing for future generations and invite Members, present and past Players, sponsors, the wider community, and anyone listed on our Honour Boards to help us raise the $3000 for it. This is a most integral part of our past and future, as it celebrates our champions both on and off the field. The new Honour Board highlights 1979 to 2082. We will also retain the history of previous years. Any size donation will help us with this most expensive item on our agenda. All donators will be acknowledged on our Social pages after our 2021 Best & Fairest Awards event. Please click this simple link and help your local club celebrate it's history.
Panton Hill Assistant Coach and Western Bulldogs AFLW player Deanna Berry has re-signed with the Redbacks for the 2022 season. Deanna has been fantastic for the club, and especially the players who learnt first hand what's required to play at the top level, and the processes and systems. Sadly 'Moo' tore her ACL early in the #AFLW season, but we've been lucky enough to watch her incredible recovery progress, and how determined she is. We look forward to seeing Deanna back on the park soon and thank her for this great story on the Western Bulldogs website.
Deanna is sponsored by Bulldogs fan Barry Webster
